My dear family..
This week was great! So good. Ah. It was just a great week. We had a surprise FHE at our Recent Converts house on Monday (we bought a loaf of bread and like Capri sun drinks and then surprised them at their house), and it was SO fun. Her Less Active mom and non-member sister even joined us. On Wednesday We had a great discussion with some of our struggling members (they have really bad cigarette problems) and their investigator friends (that also have vices). We set a day and time to begin the Addiction Recovery Program with them. They were so humble about it and are willing to commit to attend. As I was fasting yesterday, I really kept each one of them in mind. My body was hating me so bad and I felt so weak. I wanted water more than anything, haha, and during the night I couldn’t sleep. I could not get to sleep because I was so thirsty and dehydrated. (keep in mind it’s like over 100 degrees F and 100% humidity, and no air conditioning, just electric fans). I got up and read and prayed, but could NOT fall asleep. I poured ice water all over me in the shower, and then just kept praying. I realized, as I was sitting on our tile, dying of heat, that maybe this is just a teeny, tiny slice of what addicts feel to their drug. They want to withhold, but their physical body just can’t comply. I grew such compassion for our struggling addict investigators that night.
So our awesome Maravilla Family is still doing awesome. We have an FHE with them later tonight. We met their dad, which was a miracle JHe sat down and joined in as we were finishing. It is Nanay’s deepest wish to have him join in and come to church, but we’re just being patient. She gave us “the look” when he showed up and that meant “invite him and teach him now” hahahah. We played it cool, and he did sit down, and he did open up to us about his desires and what he’s dealing with right now. It was a small little miracle and we were sooo happy J
I love all of you and am not really comprehending that I will see you all in just 4 months?? What??? I love you and pray for you each night.
